Union Lido Mare is perfectly placed on the Venetian Riviera to allow easy access to both Venice and the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello where you will enjoy unlimited fascinating sights and also the marked contrast between the islands. A visit to St Marks square demonstrates the deep rich religious background this floating city has to offer, but when the sun goes down, the city of Venice softly lights up the sky and turns it’s attentions back towards it’s roots as one of the most romantic cities on the planet.
Why not take a trip out on a Gondola and explore this fascinating city the way the locals do. Enjoy fine dining or a family visit to many of the canal side cafes and bars. Visit the Venice park and see how beautiful it is, admire the Venetian actors baying for your attention, (always polite to leave a little tip after a fantastic colourful photo opportunity).
Purchase your 'day hopper' ticket from the Union Lido Mare information office down in the main square. This will give you a 12 hour ticket that can be used for the buses and water ferries in the locale of Cavallino and Venice. You will also be given a map of the water ferries operating around Venice along with all the stops, which will help you to navigate your way around this beautiful historical floating city. Of course, you can purchase single tickets if you prefer, just ask at the Union Lido information office for more information.
The bus stops are outside the main entrance of the holiday park. Just pop across the road to catch the bus bound for Punta Sabbioni (Ferry Port for Venice and the surrounding islands). The buses and ferries operate very efficiently which means minimal wait times between either service. The bus uses an electronic ticket scanner to help speed up the boarding process. Just swipe your card against it and the machine will beep to confirm! The same applies to the ferry. Just scan your card on the machine, wait for the beep then board the ferry.
A very simple way to reach this magical city! Remember to take a hat! Those open squares can catch the sunlight!
